On a 4:3 television set, a small image trembles, ringed by a black border. A truck stands still at the centre while the whole landscape slides from right to left. The twenty-five-second video runs on a loop. Movement is reversed: what is mobile freezes, what is fixed drifts from right to left. The picture looks like the image of an image. The mechanism stacks three movements: the tripod set on a pedestrian bridge that sways, the montage's slow motion and scrolling, the monitor's own vibration. The direct sound, degraded by the treatment, turns formless. What is called into question is the very flow of video: pushed to the limit of its own workings, it exposes its "false movement." Between documentary capture and the strangeness of fiction, the tool of mass images is questioned through its most intimate property: motion itself, at twenty-five feints per second.
