Six tableaux, sans un mot. Une masse noire où l'œil, peu à peu, distingue des formes : un nuage se dissipe à l'aube et découvre un paysage. Des points rouges — des fourmis — emportent une brindille. Une eau claire se charge de boue sous la pluie. Une goutte grossit à la pointe d'une mousse, miroite, tombe. Au drone, une canopée révèle ses couloirs de ciel — des cimes qui évitent de se toucher.

Rien de spectaculaire ; l'attention se règle sur l'infime. Ralenti, le regard apprend à voir des liaisons qu'il traversait sans les voir.

Chaque tableau traque un mot d'un même champ lexical — le poreux, le diffus, la capillarité, l'indiscernable. Caméra-microscope, drone, infrarouge, micros-contact et sous l'eau : des outils poussés à contre-emploi pour rendre sensible ce qui échappe au cadre. Aucun carton ; entre les tableaux, un pas, un travelling replacent la présence humaine. En salle comme en installation, les tableaux se déploient à l'échelle du corps.

Un film qui n'est pas sur la nature, mais sur notre culture de la « nature » — cette matrice qu'on dit pure et originelle pour justifier l'ordre des choses. En donnant à voir un vivant impur, poreux, tributaire de son milieu, Jonction(s) défait, image après image, la frontière entre nature et culture.

Six tableaux, not a single word. A black mass in which the eye slowly makes out shapes: a cloud burns off at dawn and uncovers a landscape. Red dots — ants — carry off a twig. Clear water thickens with mud under the rain. A droplet swells at the tip of a moss, glints, falls. From a drone, a canopy reveals its corridors of sky — crowns that keep from touching.

Nothing spectacular; attention tunes to the minute. Slowed down, the eye learns to see linkages it used to pass straight through.

Each tableau hunts a word from one lexical field — the porous, the diffuse, capillarity, the indiscernible. Microscope-camera, drone, infrared, contact and underwater microphones: tools pushed against their intended use to make sensible what escapes the frame. No intertitles; between tableaux, a footstep, a tracking shot return the human presence. On screen as in installation, the tableaux unfold at the scale of the body.

A film not about nature, but about our culture of "nature" — the matrix we call pure and original to justify the order of things. By showing a living world that is impure, porous, bound to its milieu, Jonction(s) undoes, image after image, the border between nature and culture.
